PETVAX POLICY

We know from our experience that there are many pet owners who are too well off to receive help from the major animal charities, but who cannot afford good basic healthcare for their animals.

We know that there are many animals which do not receive regular health checks, vaccinations, flea control and worming because their owners are frightened of what the cost might be.

We know that the major killer diseases like canine parvovirus, feline leukaemia and rabbit viral haemorrhagic disease still kill hundreds of animals in this region every month.

We know that although many animal charities are overstretched by their effort to provide subsidised neutering schemes, many owners still find the cost too great.

We know that thousands of lost dogs and cats are put down in Leeds and Bradford every year because there is no way of identifying them.

We know that many pets and their owners' homes are badly infested with fleas every summer.

We know that most pets are wormed infrequently and that this poses a small public health risk.

We are doing something about it.

OUR AIMS ARE:

  • To make affordable pet health care available to everyone.
  • To display all charges prominently and keep to them absolutely
  • To eliminate the major infectious diseases of cats, dogs and rabbits.
  • To promote responsible pet ownership.
  • To reduce the numbers of strays and unwanted pets.
  • To encourage the permanent identification of all pets.
  • To enable owners to keep their pets free from fleas and worms.

OBJECTIVES:

To provide a comprehensive health promotion service to all cat, dog and rabbit owners. Everyone is expected to pay but the cost is kept as low as we can afford. Everyone is treated equally well. All treatment is by qualified veterinary surgeons, not veterinary nurses.

WE OFFER AT LOW COST :

Vaccinations. Less than half the UK's dogs and cats are vaccinated. Less than 1/4 of the country's cats are vaccinated against leukaemia. Hardly any rabbits are vaccinated against VHD and myxomatosis. We provide both primary and booster vaccinations. All animals receive a free health check.

Neuterings. We neuter male and female dogs, cats and rabbits for a low, fixed charge.

Microchip identification. We scan free of charge and implant microchips at low cost.

Flea and worm control. We advise and supply the most suitable and effective products for each individual's needs from the modern ranges of preparations only available at veterinary surgeries, but at low cost.

Dental Work. We perform routine descaling, extractions and other dental work as appropriate, all at affordable agreed costs.

WE OFFER AT STANDARD COST :

All treatments usually available at a modern Veterinary Practice for pets who are suffering from illness or injury. Please ask if you are unsure about what you think we can deal with.
